ABOUT THE PLATFORM

THE GAP WASN’T EVENTS. IT WAS ACCESS.

Huntsville has never had a shortage of things happening. Finding them is another story.

WhyNotHuntsville was created to make the city easier to explore. We find events, experiences, nightlife, arts, culture and community happenings across Huntsville, then organize what we find into a platform built for discovery.

ABOUT THE PLATFORM

BUILT FOR DISCOVERY

Huntsville has never had a shortage of things happening. Finding them is another story.

THE CITY BEYOND THE BROCHURE

WHY IT MATTERS

GOOD THINGS SHOULDN’T GET BURIED.

On any given day, there are concerts tucked inside local venues, markets taking over neighborhood spaces, comedy shows, art exhibits, fitness events, festivals, meetups and experiences happening across the city. The problem has never really been a lack of things to do. It’s that the information is scattered across social media pages, venue calendars, flyers, event listings and posts you may never see unless you already know where to look.

WhyNotHuntsville was built to close that gap.

We search for what’s happening across Huntsville, accept events directly from the people creating them, then curate and organize that information so the community has a simpler way to discover the city. From recurring local favorites to one-night events that could easily get buried in a feed, the goal is to make more of Huntsville visible.

Because discovering a city shouldn’t require following hundreds of accounts or finding out about something great after it already happened.

WhyNotHuntsville brings those pieces together in one place, giving residents and visitors a clearer view of what’s happening around them and giving the people creating those experiences another path to be discovered.

The mission is simple: make Huntsville easier to find, explore and experience.

Huntsville is known for rockets, research and innovation. But the city is also shaped by the people making music, creating art, opening businesses, building communities, producing events and giving people reasons to leave the house.

WhyNotHuntsville exists to make that side of the city easier to see.

We believe exploring Huntsville means looking beyond the landmarks and discovering the people, places and experiences giving the city its personality.

Great events don't always come with big marketing budgets, massive followings or algorithms that put them in front of the right people. Some of the city's best experiences are happening in smaller venues, independent spaces and corners of Huntsville people simply haven't discovered yet.

WhyNotHuntsville helps widen that view.

THE INFORMATION
WAS ALWAYS THERE.
IT JUST NEEDED
A BETTER WAY
TO BE
FOUND.

MEET THE CURATOR //

SO, WHO’S BEHIND WHYNOTHUNTSVILLE?

I’ve deliberately spent most of my time behind the scenes, letting WhyNotHuntsville be about Huntsville rather than the person running the account. Apparently, that worked a little too well. I’ve had more than a few conversations that ended with some version of, “Wait...that’s YOU?”

Yep. That’s me.

WhyNotHuntsville is run by me, Robyn. Just me, myself and I...every day.

By day, I work in project controls, helping manage multimillion-dollar government programs where numbers, details and organization matter. Then there’s WhyNotHuntsville...the creative side of my brain that apparently needed its own entire platform. It’s where spreadsheets give way to design, curiosity and figuring out what Huntsville has going on that people somehow still haven’t heard about.

What started with a simple question, “Why not Huntsville?”, became my way of exploring the city I call home and sharing what I find along the way.

And when I say it’s just me, I mean it. I’m the one researching the events, building the Flight Logs, sorting through flyers, writing captions, answering messages and occasionally wondering how something happening five minutes away almost escaped my radar.

I don’t want WhyNotHuntsville to tell you Huntsville is interesting. I want to keep showing you.

I’m still exploring, too.
